Review by Polly Read

Skandar and the Phantom Rider is the second book in the Skandar series. It is about Skandar Smith who has achieved his dream of training as an unicorn rider.

As he and his friends start their second year at the training school a dark and terrible threat rages elemental magical revenge on the island. The island then starts to self destruct and it is up to Skandar and his friends to stop the island from tearing itself apart.

Skandar is also trying to get his sister, Kenna who desperately wants to be an unicorn rider, into the training school and find her destined unicorn.

I read this book as I have read Skandar and the Unicorn Thief the first book in the seres, which I thought was quite good and wanted to know what happens next.

I really enjoyed reading this, it is so much better than the first book. It was very exciting and adventurous. Every chapter seemed to end on a cliffhanger that made me want to keep reading, even at the end of the book left me waining to know more. The story is not at all predictable especially with the mystery element to it as I did not know quite know what was coming next. I certainly can not wait to read book three in the seres Skandar and the Chaos Trials.

I would recommend this book to anyone that has read and enjoyed the first book. I would also recommend this to anyone that likes to read adventurous mystery stories about unicorns and magic with a twist.

The reading age that this book is amid at is age nine to twelve plus years who are confident readers.
