Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of B&NES Virtual Library , there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for B&NES Virtual Library:
- ‘Colin’s Big Read’ Game: The game is not accessible for those with visual impairments because the game requires the user to locate items visually. We have not found a way to create a fully accessible version of this game.
- Crosswords and Wordsearches: These cannot be navigated using the keyboard and may not work with screen readers because the platform we use to generate these cannot create accessible versions. We are looking for a new accessibility-friendly platform. Please email Library_events@bathnes.gov.uk and we can provide Word document versions.
- Menus: Some menus on the website cannot be accessed with a keyboard. There is a Main Menu at the top of every page that includes all content and is accessible via keyboard. We are working with our web developer to resolve this in the coming months.
- Menus on mobile version of the site: Some menus on the website have small clickable links. There is a menu at the top of every page that includes all content and is in a large font. We are working with our web developer to resolve this in the coming months.
