If you’re looking for a nice easy read, then this Isn’t the book for you. This drags you down to the dirty under belly of the Bristol streets.

Two teenagers, Gemma and Tar, one sort of loves the other, the other in desperate need to be loved.

Tar has not had an easy life, he’s either his dad’s punching bag or his mum’s emotional trauma bond. Neither think about him as a son who needs unconditional love but instead use and degrade him. At fourteen he decides that he can’t take anymore and leaves home to start his new life on the streets.

Gemma is being suffocated by her parents, she just wants to be adventurous and enjoy herself. Her parents love the bones of her but don’t know how to handle this daughter of theirs. The more she pushes the more they cling and imprison her with rules.

This fictional story is the about the real truth of how easy it is to fall into the life of drugs, how it starts out fun with meeting new people and partying, but so quickly turns ugly. I felt the highs and lows as all the characters feel them, each chapter brilliantly written in their own thoughts, so I got a rounded view of their world.

I loved this book, it made me think, my heart ache, cringe and nod my head in approval. It pushes the boundaries of teenage love, drugs and life. It’s a must read but be ready to be punched in the gut with realness.
