Roger Stennett recalls his extraordinary childhood growing up ‘backstage’ in Variety Theatres all over the UK, when touring with his father, Comedian and Entertainer Stan Stennett MBE.
The Variety Theatre world was a curious mixture of Vaudeville and Circus, with Singers and Dancers and Comedians and Speciality acts all rubbing shoulders with animal acts, acrobats, fire eaters, sword swallowers and scantily clad chorus girls.
For a young boy it was ‘Wonderland’, and forms the theme of Roger’s new Feature Film Screenplay ‘Twice Nightly’.
Roger will also read some Showbiz related poems from his three critically acclaimed collections of Poetry, copies of which he will have with him for sale.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
Free tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided. Speak to a member of the Keynsham Library team for more information.
