We’ve been having a blast at the Victoria Art Gallery over the past year, hosting Toddler Thursdays story time during two very different exhibitions. The families, carers and their kids have enjoyed not just books, but dress-up and colouring, and all the fun of being in a gallery filled with world-famous art by French artists and nostalgic Ladybird Books. It’s been such a hit!

Whether we see familiar faces or new visitors, we’ve loved watching kids get cozy on bean bags, hop around like little frogs, and join in however they feel comfortable. Over time, we’ve learned what works for families and carers, and what makes the experience really click for little ones. It’s been a wonderful journey and keeping our Toddler Thursday story times going strong is a huge priority for us as we plan future Victoria Art Gallery community programming.
For our upcoming exhibition featuring artworks from the Bath Society of Artists, we’re excited to be teaming up with the Bath Central Library once again! The exhibition showcases some of the best local art, and the gallery will be filled to the brim with stunning paintings and sculptures. Since that can be a bit tricky when working with small children, the Library has offered us their children’s area for story time from October through December, Thursdays 10.30 – 11.00am during term time.
We’re thrilled to be hosting Toddler Thursdays story time at the Library, and our volunteers and staff can’t wait to dive into some great stories with you and your little ones. Afterward, feel free to pop over to the Victoria Art Gallery and check out our fun and fascinating exhibition—entry is free for those who come to the sessions!
We’re so looking forward to seeing the children and their families and carers at the Bath Central Library during Toddler Thursdays. Come join us!
