100 Years Writing Competition

To celebrate our 100-year anniversary, we are launching the Centenary Writing Competition. The competition theme is ‘One Hundred Years.’ Entrants are invited to write a short story, poem or non-fiction piece themed on ’One Hundred Years.’

Who Can Take Part?

The competition has three categories. Children up to the age of 11 years, 12-17 years, and adults.

Prizes include a £20 Mr B’s Book Token, with runner up prizes of up to £10 in Book Tokens.

Word Count

There is no minimum, but a maximum of 2500 words.

Deadline

The competition runs from 3 June – 31 August 2024. All entries need your name, category, and contact details. All prize winners will be notified by the end of September.

How to Enter

Guidelines, Terms and Conditions

• All entrants must be Bath and North East Somerset library members 


• Entrants can only submit one entry per person


• The competition is grouped into 3 categories: Children aged 11 years and under, 12-17 years, Adults 18+

• All entries must be submitted with an entry form and include name, category to be judged in, library card number plus contact details (for children this will be a parent/carer)

• All entries must be submitted by 1pm on Saturday 31st August 2024 for judging


• The judge’s decision is final. Feedback will not be available for pieces of writing.


• Prizes winners will receive a £20 Mr B’s book token. Runners up will receive a £10 Mr B’s voucher.

• Prize winners will be announced in September 2024

•The Library Service has the right to display and use entries in any way we see fit
