The Poem
They said we’re all in Lockdown
I said hang on a minute
We’ve got one of those in Pensford
But we’ll never all get in it !
They said that’s a Lockup
And this is Lockdown
You stay in your house
And you can’t go to town !
I said can I go in the garden ?
They said yes if you use common sense
You can shout and wave at the neighbours
But no kissing over the fence !
I said there’s no meat in the freezer
And I’m dying to cook a roast
They said remember you’re British
Make do with beans on toast !
They said no pubs, clubs or having fun
We said we’ll all do our best
To look after each and everyone
And Lockdown for our NHS !
