Storytime with Ukrainian translation
We recently ran special Storytime events in our core libraries with Ukrainian translation. We recorded some of these stories and have published Maisy goes to the library read by Debbie and Zheyna at Keynsham Library. Watch the video below!
Odilo provides thousands of free eBooks and audiobooks
To provide Ukrainians with a range of free reading, listening, learning and entertainment opportunities, multimedia content provider Odilo launched a free app for both Android and iOS in early April. Available across Europe, the app includes 3000 e-books and audiobooks in a variety of genres, including 1,700 Ukrainian titles and 500 in English. There is material for both children and adults.

Access Harry Potter stories
For Harry Potter fans, Pottermore Publishing have made Ukrainian digital editions of Harry Potter books available online for free.
Badger Learning- English-Ukrainian eBook PDFs for schools and families
Badger Learning have translated and published a range of English-Ukrainian eBook PDFs for schools and families.
These are suitable for children in KS2 and KS3 (ages 8–14) and are ideal learning resources to support children in building fluency in reading in English. Visit their website to access these resources.
Duolingo – Ukrainian to English essential phrases
Duolingo is a fun way to learn a new language but to support Ukrainians they have created an online phrasebook, a tool and resource for refugees and volunteers who need to communicate urgently about a range of topics, including safety, family, identity, and medical needs. Oak Academy
The Oak Academy provides teachers and pupils with useful resources. Lessons are available in a variety of languages including Ukrainian and for more information about translations you can visit their website.
National Literacy Trust Resources
The National Literacy Trust are developing resources for Ukrainian families arriving in the UK. If you are a Ukrainian family, or are supporting a Ukrainian family, you can email the National Literary Trust to receive one of their Welcome Reading Packs.
The Trust’s Time Together booklet is a colourful and easy-to-read guide that is full of suggestions for how parents can support their young child’s learning at home. You can access the Ukrainian version below and visit the website for more information about English and Russian versions.
Introduction to Libraries Leaflet
Libraries Connected have recently produced two leaflets – one in English and one in Ukrainian, translated into Ukrainian by Dr Ludmila Pekarska, Shevchenko Library and Archive and The Association of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain. The leaflet is an introduction to libraries and are there to help anyone seeking vital public services.
